Biography

Md. Belal Hussain Ripon is a Lecturer in the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering at United International University. He has completed his Bachelor of Sciences and Master of Sciences from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Dhaka. In his 4th year project, he reviewed “Cancer Immunotherapy: The Future of Cancer Treatment.” Upon completing his BS, he started his MS thesis at the Center for Advanced Research in Sciences, University of Dhaka. His thesis was
focused on finding mitochondrial gene mutations by sequencing and establishing the association
of the mutations with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

He continued to work as a research assistant at CARS, University of Dhaka after his MS. He
participated in “Training on Bioinformatics for Biotechnology Research”, “Training on
Biosafety and Cell Culture Techniques for Advanced Research”,  and “Training on Bioinformatics for Biotechnology Research, National Institute of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology”

He was also involved in various clubs and organizations including the Bangladesh Biology Olympiad, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Club, National Young Biotechnologist of Bangladesh.

He was awarded the “National Science & Technology Fellowship-2022″ from the Ministry of Science and Technology.  At the International Biotechnology Conference 2024, he won the runner-up prize for
‘Poster Presentation’ of “Association of MT-CYB gene mutations with Type 2 Diabetes Melitus: A case-control study”.

He started his professional life at Eskayef Pharmaceutical Ltd. as a Product Executive and later joined United International University as a Lecturer.

Belal aspires to achieve excellence in both teaching and research, with the objective of advancing the field of immunotherapy. He is dedicated to contributing to discoveries that improve patient outcomes while inspiring the next generation of scientists through innovative teaching methodologies.
